LOOK: Former Tennessee assistant Mike Canales sends classy goodbye tweet to Vol Nation
When Tennessee hired new head coach Jeremy Pruitt, it meant most of the former Vol assistants had to find new jobs.
However, as QB coach Mike Canales was on his way out of Knoxville, he took some time to thank Vol Nation for a wonderful 2017 season.
Though the season didn’t go according to plan for the Vols, Canales still posted on Twitter that he enjoyed his time on Rocky Top:
Rocky Top was a great "Home Sweet Home" to the Canales family. Thank you Volnation and Best wishes to the Vols next year. #GBO pic.twitter.com/iU5j89J8e9

Canales reportedly already has a new job, though, so he’ll be on to new things next year. He’s expected to join new UTEP coach Dana Dimel’s staff:
Mike Canales set to become offensive coordinator at UTEP. Was at Tennessee this past year, back in the day was co-offensive coordinator with Dana Dimel at Arizona

He’ll also move up from QB coach to offensive coordinator, so we’ll get to see how well the former Vol assistant fares in that new role.
It’s probably safe to say Tennessee fans will be rooting for the former Vol assistant to find success in his new role at UTEP, just as he’ll be rooting for the Vols in 2018 and beyond.
