When it comes to Tennessee’s new recruiting staff hires there is been a constant theme, the Volunteers are loading up on graduates from the school.

In the case of the newest hire in Tennessee’s athletic staff, that also applies.

According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, Tennessee AD Danny White is set to hire Austin Peay Senior Associate AD Marcus Hilliard.

Hilliard’s connections to Tennessee’s program run deep as the UT graduate and former Volunteer equipment manager is also the adopted son of Duke head coach and former Volunteer offensive coordinator assistant David Cutcliffe. The Cutcliffe family adopted Hilliard after his mother died following a battle with cancer back in 2002.

Tennessee’s newest hire also previously worked with White at UCF from 2016-2018, serving as the program’s Vice President and Director of Athletics’ Chief of Staff.

Hilliard was hired by Austin Peay in August of 2018 and has been with the Governors since that time overseeing several aspects of the program, including the Govs Club, communications, marketing, fan experience, ticketing, video and social media.
