Peyton Manning doesn’t need to explain why the upcoming game with Alabama is important to him as a Tennessee legend.

The former Tennessee quarterback was a guest on Always College Football Friday. The Volunteers will be looking to build on last season’s exciting win in Knoxville from last season, but will now have to win at Tuscaloosa.

Manning believes that the best way Josh Heupel and company can pull off the upset is by controlling the clock in a low scoring game.

This is not something that the offense has been known for under Heupel, however. Manning joked that if Heupel doesn’t have 90 plays every game it’s considered a letdown.

Manning thinks that the game will a close 20-17 win.

Greg McElroy humored Manning by asking what team will win. Manning poked fun at McElroy saying that it was a stupid question even for an Alabama graduate.

“I feel like the best chance for us to win is for it to be low scoring. I think that means possessing the ball,” said Manning. “It’s hard for us to control the clock with as fast as we run plays, right? If Josh isn’t getting 90 plays in a game, it’s a letdown. Like I said, maybe keeping the ball and keeping their offense off the field a little bit, 20-17?”

If the Vols win Saturday, it would be their second straight win in the series since 2003-2004.
