Hugh Freeze is one of the hottest names on the coaching market, and Tennessee isn’t wasting a perfect chance to lure him toward its opening at offensive coordinator.

According to a report from VolQuest, Rivals.com’s Tennessee website, Volunteers coach Jeremy Pruitt has spoken with Freeze “to talk ‘ball and discuss his offensive coordinator vacancy.”

Pruitt is searching for a new play-caller after Tyson Helton accepted the head coaching job at Western Kentucky earlier this week. Freeze seems like an ideal candidate for a replacement, considering his familiarity with the SEC and his offense’s success at Ole Miss from 2012-16.

Freeze has a deal in place to become the offensive coordinator of the Arizona Hotshots in the Alliance of American Football league, but there’s a strong chance he wants to return to the college ranks. Rocky Top looks like it could be a landing spot, so we’ll keep you updated if Freeze’s talks with Pruitt progress any further.
