There’s a new era at Rocky Top. With that new era, is a new face at quarterback for the Vols as it appears that Joe Milton is gaining some ground in the QB competition, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of On3.

Milton is a transfer from Michigan who chose Tennessee in late April of 2021 after going into the transfer portal in February.

During his career for the Wolverines, Milton had 1,194 yards passing with 5 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He has been proven to be able to run the ball when he needs to with 156 yards rushing.

Other quarterbacks on the roster that have been competing for the job are Harrison Bailey, Hendon Hooker, and previously Brian Maurer.

However, Maurer announced that he is entering the transfer portal last week.

Zenitz described what Milton brings to Tennessee.

“While Milton struggled in his five starts at Michigan last season, he has big-time arm talent and has impressed the Vols staff with his leadership skills.”
