Update: Contrary to earlier reports, SMU’s Chad Morris won’t interview for the job Wednesday, according to Bruce Feldman.

The Tennessee Volunteers swung and missed again on Tuesday night, trying to hire Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy before having him say no.

Now, the long, exhausting search continues, much to the dismay of Vol Nation. Fans are growing increasingly frustrated with AD John Currie with each passing day.

However, the Vols have already reportedly zeroed in on a new target, as FootballScoop.com reports that the Vols are set to meet with SMU coach Chad Morris on Wednesday:

Morris has been SMU’s coach since 2015 after serving as Clemson’s offensive coordinator from 2011 to 2014. His Mustangs are currently 7-5 and he has an overall record of 14-22 in three years at SMU.

Will Vol Nation get behind Morris if he is indeed the guy? That remains to be seen, but for now, the long search for Butch Jones’s replacement continues.
