It looks like the Tennessee Volunteers will be without backup QB Quinten Dormady when they take on Kentucky Saturday.

It was reported Friday evening that Dormady, who has started five games this season, did not make the trip to Lexington with the team. Dormady has thrown for 925 yards, 6 TDs, and 6 interceptions but  lost his starting job following the loss to Georgia.

Jarrett Guarantano has served as the starter each of the past two games against South Carolina and Alabama, but not having Dormady will leave the Vols in a tricky spot if anything were to happen to Guarantano.

Austin Price with VolQuest.com shared the news:

After serving as the backup quarterback against both South Carolina and Alabama, Junior Quinten Dormady will not serve in that role Saturday at Kentucky. Sources tell Volquest.com that Dormady did not make the trip to Lexington, Kentucky and is expected to have shoulder surgery.

Dormady likely would not have played much if at all, but the Vols are already facing a tough task. Star RB John Kelly has been suspended for the game against Kentucky following a marijuana citation earlier in the week.

Saturday’s kickoff against the Wildcats is set for 7:30 pm EST on the SEC Network.
