Tennessee P Tommy Townsend is leaving the Volunteers, according to a report by 247Sports.

A former U.S. Army All-American, Townsend was a three-star signee in 2015 and ranked the No. 7 punter of the recruiting class. Baylor and Colorado were the two other teams to extend offers.

Townsend redshirted for the 2015 season while Trevor Daniel handled punting duties for the Volunteers. Daniel averaged 45.7 yards per punt last season, a new school record.

247Sports’ sources say Townsend, the younger brother of UF punter Johnny Townsend, is currently exploring his options and placing a priority on playing time.
