Rocky Top meltdown: Reactions unkind to Tennessee following 5-star Cade Mays' decommitment
A bad season for the Tennessee Volunteers got even worse Tuesday.
Long-time Tennessee commit Cade Mays officially announced on Twitter his decision to decommit from the Vols, and the loss is a big one.
Mays is ranked by 247Sports as a five-star OL, the No. 1 player from the state of Tennessee, and the No. 15 overall player in the nation for the class of 2018. He is a hometown kid from Knoxville who has been committed to Tennessee for over two years, and it is hard to put into words how big a loss this is.
Mays has made unofficial visits to Clemson and Georgia this season, and it will be interesting to see if he chooses to join an SEC East rival after his decommitment from the Vols.
As one can imagine, news of the Vols loss spread quickly. Here is a look at reactions on Twitter from fans and media members:
Can't get much worse for Tennessee at this point. Time to do something John Currie.

Not content to just fire Butch and move on, UT is gonna let him burn the program to the ground & make it a massive rebuild for the next guy.

(Taylor is a four-star WR who is committed to Tennessee)
The Vols just played a game with 6 scholarship OL and then lost their 5-star tackle 3 days later. No overstating how big of a loss this is.

#Vols lose a kid they couldn’t afford to. Make the big hire, could see him coming back https://t.co/LuKfvysSyR

One of the top prospects and young men in this class. Big decision here. Visited #Georgia this past weekend. https://t.co/azqst258Sf

Mays had been the Vols leader in the 2018 recruiting class. Only time will tell if this causes a domino effect for Tennessee commits. https://t.co/OscGcnUGFr
