After a trio of series losses to Florida, LSU and Arkansas, Tennessee baseball bounced back with a huge series win over Vanderbilt Saturday. The Vols, who used 2 solo home runs to force extra innings and the eventual W Friday, boat-raced Vanderbilt 17-1 Saturday behind a red-hot first inning.

The Vols scored more runs in the first inning of Game 2 (9) than they did the entirety of their series loss to Arkansas last week (7). And they did all of their damage with 2 outs.

Kavares Tears started things off for Tennessee, bringing 2 Vols home with an 0-2 hit into left field. Cal Stark and Jared Dickey added a few runs of their own. And for all intents and purposes, the below shot from Maui Ahuna was the dagger for the Commodores just 2 outs into their afternoon.

This is Tennessee’s first series win since sweeping Texas A&M to end March.

There is some bad news for Tennessee, however. Christian Moore was ejected late in the game for his exchange with Troy LaNeve, who gave pitcher Chase Dollander too much of a shove for Moore’s liking as Dollander covered first base. Because of this, Moore will not be able to join Tennessee for tomorrow’s quest to sweep the Commodores.

First pitch for Sunday’s game is set for 1 p.m.
