Former Florida State quarterback Chris Weinke is reportedly joining Jeremy Pruitt’s staff at Tennessee.

Saturday Down South’s Dan Harralson was first to report that Weinke would be joining the staff.

VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs mentioned first on Friday night that he was in Knoxville.

Weinke played for the Seminoles from 1997 through 2000 — the latter year in which he won the Heisman Trophy — and got the team to three straight national championship games.

FSU’s 1998 squad lost 23-16 to Tennessee in the first-ever BCS National Championship Game. Weinke went on to lead the Noles to a national championship victory in ’99.

After a seven-year NFL career, Weinke got into coaching. He served as quarterbacks coach for the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams in 2015 and 2016, then took over as an offensive analyst at Alabama this season.

The guy seems to know plenty about quarterbacking.
