Tennessee has reportedly found its new running backs coach.

De’Rail Sims is on the move to Rocky Top after spending last season at Cincinnati, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Sims has been a full-time college football assistant coach since 2010. He has worked his way up the coaching ladder, with recent stops at Louisville and Cincinnati.

Sims joined the Cardinals’ coaching staff ahead of the 2021 season. That fall, Louisville finished No. 18 nationally with 212.9 rushing yards per game, producing 29 touchdowns on the ground. The Cards were a top-25 rushing unit nationally again in 2022, posting 201 yards per game and 25 scores.

Scott Satterfield brought Sims from Louisville to Cincinnati for the 2023 season. Under Sims, the Bearcats were No. 5 in the nation with 217.1 rushing yards per game last season.

Last season, Sims’ unit rushed for more than 200 yards nine times in 12 games. The group included Corey Kiner, who rushed for 1,047 yards as a junior.

Sims replaces Jerry Mack, who left his position on Josh Heupel’s staff for an NFL opportunity.
