Tennessee head coach Butch Jones has done a great job coaching up the team’s punters during his four seasons in Knoxville but the Vols’ latest commit may not need much coaching, he’s already ranked as the nation’s top punter prospect at his position.

He also happens to have a terrific name for a punter — Skyler DeLong.

DeLong, a South Carolina native, is ranked by 247Sports Composite Ratings as the nation’s No. 1 punter prospect for the 2018 recruiting cycle. He committed to Tennessee Thursday after receiving an offer from the UT staff. DeLong announced his commitment via Twitter:

DeLong’s commitment pushes Tennessee’s latest recruiting class to 12 total commitments. The only SEC program with more commitments than Tennessee is LSU, which has 16 total commitments.

The Volunteers latest commitment recently posted this video before announcing his plans to join the program. According to the audio, the ball traveled 70 yards after DeLong punted it.

Check out DeLong’s junior season punting highlight reel. Easy to see why 247Sports ranks him as the nation’s top punting prospect, he has a huge leg.
