Tennessee just landed a very intriguing prospect for its 2023 basketball recruiting class under coach Rick Barnes.

On Thursday, 4-star forward Cade Phillips chose the Vols over Alabama (among other schools). Why is that significant?

Well, Phillips is the son of former Alabama QB John David Phillips and the nephew of fellow ex-Alabama QB Brodie Croyle.

The Alabama legacy committed to Tennessee via Twitter on Thursday:

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Phillips is the No. 14 power forward in the class of 2023 and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Alabama.

Tennessee now has 2 players in its 2023 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 18 in the nation and No. 2 in the SEC, per 247Sports.
