UPDATE: Last minute jockeying changed Tennessee’s initial reported bowl destination. Multiple reports indicated that the Vols would be headed to the Music City Bowl to take on Louisville. However, the Music City Bowl announced on social media that Louisville would take on Mississippi State.
It was announced Sunday afternoon that Tennessee would be headed to the Gator Bowl:

Tennessee reportedly liked the idea of heading to Nashville, but at the last minute it changed its mind and went with the Gator Bowl, a more prestigious bowl game. This explains it better.
