Tennessee has released a statement on John Kelly and Will Ignont, who were cited for marijuana on Tuesday night, according to a Wednesday report from Knoxville ABC affiliate WATE.
UT said it is aware of the situation and “looking into it.”
The university said it would not have any other comment at this time.
The players were cited during a traffic stop after officers reportedly noticed the vehicle Kelly was driving had a missing/broken headlight.
Police then noticed a smell coming from the vehicle, which appeared to resemble that of marijuana. They searched the vehicle and found the pot, as well as a glass pipe.
Both players were subsequently cited.
