Two Tennessee players — including star running back John Kelly — were cited on Tuesday night after drugs were found in their car during a traffic stop, according to a report from Knoxville ABC affiliate WATE.

Knoxville police reportedly said Kelly was driving the vehicle on Cumberland Avenue — UT’s main strip — around 10:46 p.m. WATE reported that Will Ignont, a linebacker, was a passenger.

The players were pulled over during a traffic stop because a headlight was out.

Officers reportedly smelled a strong scent coming out of the vehicle.

They asked the players to step out of the car, and once Kelly and Ignont consented to a search, police found a clear plastic bag of what appeared to be marijuana, according to the report. They also found a glass pipe.

Neither player claimed ownership of the marijuana or the pipe, the reported stated. Both were cited and allowed to leave.

Kelly was cited for possession of a schedule 6 drug, which is a misdemeanor, not having a headlight and not having proof of insurance. Ignont was cited on misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

WATE said the players must turn themselves in for booking at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office by Nov. 7 at 7:30 a.m. ET.
