Tennessee reportedly losing former 4-star DB to transfer portal after 2 seasons
Tennessee defensive back Jordan Matthews intends to enter the transfer portal when it opens later this month, according to a report.
Matthews is a former top recruit for the Vols. He was a 4-star prospect and the No. 18 cornerback in the country for the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett was first to report the news of his exit from Knoxville:

Despite arriving in Knoxville with plenty of pedigree, Matthews never earned a significant role on Tennessee’s defense. He was credited with 3 tackles and 2 pass deflections this season. Both pass breakups came back in Tennessee’s Week 1 blowout win over Chattanooga.
According to Pro Football Focus, Matthews logged 83 total snaps this season. That’s good for 6th amongst all cornerbacks on the team.
While Matthews may not have played a big role for the Vols, he will presumably be departing the program prior to Tennessee’s College Football Playoff game. The Vols are expected to earn a berth in the CFP for the first time ever in 2024.
Tennessee will learn its seeding in the College Football Playoff on Sunday afternoon.
