Tennessee transfer OL Wanya Morris reveals top 3 schools
Wanya Morris is once again a coveted recruit, so it’s only fitting that he is sharing top-team lists similar to what we see from the top high school prospects.
A former 5-star recruit from the class of 2019, Morris is again being recruited as one of the most prominent names currently in the NCAA transfer portal. On Friday, Morris shared that Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Southern Cal are his current top three teams. USC was not one of the 26 programs that offered Morris when he was ranked the No. 28 prospect overall in the class of 2019 on the 247Sports Composite.
Morris played in 22 games in two seasons at Tennessee. In 2019, Morris started 12 of 13 games at left tackle, collecting SEC All-Freshman accolades and True Freshman All-American honors from 247Sports. This season, he played in nine games, making seven starts.
News of Morris entering his name into the portal broke Wednesday.

Sounds like a look at me kind of guy.
I bet it’s A&M. Surely he wouldn’t dare want to leave the #1 conference in the land!!!! Southern California is more likely just a free vacation of some kind. I mean there on the rise maybe. But no there not SEC!!! And this ain’t Florida talking!!!
PS. Florida will probably have a really bad season next year. I need to look at their schedule.
King Negan
So now he’s naming a top 3 as a proud transfer portal recruit, what a drama queen, Vols are better off without this quitter…just pick and leave all ready…
Pretty much the way I looked at it. It is like he thinks he is still in high school and wants his day in the sun.
Five star OL that never really panned out to his ranking…it looks to me the coaches aren’t really trying to change his mind. Whiffed on a lot of blocks this past year, but best of luck to him.
Top 3…respect my decision? You haven’t made one yet dummy. Learn words.
It infuriates me when I see a kid that has done nothing in life and is 17-18 years old tells me to respect his decisions.
I’ll respect his decision if he’s been to Afghanistan or Iraq and placed himself in danger for me and my family. Not because he played football in high school.
Well put.
Get of my lawn…a lot of hostility…maybe people kept asking him so he posted it. Who cares, best of luck to the kid. Also why call him a quitter, season is over. College kids transfer all the time for all sorts of reasons.
He didn’t commit for a season and he’s not a grad transfer, he failed to honor his commitment, he quit…
He’s from Ga, he names a top 3 of schools in Ok, Tx and Cal…other than having his frail ego fed by distant coaches and his bank account enhanced By aggressive boosters, what other reason can it be, He’s homesick? He’s as close to Loganville as he’ll ever be.
He’s just another one that found out he’s not special. He’s trying to be special or relevant again. Only thing he has left it looks like.
You are the first to use the word quitter. Though that is what it is called when you stop something before you finish it. Well unless you are a snowflake and insist on trying to change the definitions of words.
It looks like he played in every game…. so he isn’t flunking out of football class.
On the other hand, it looks like he thinks he can get as much playing time as he wants at aTm, Oklahoma, and Southern California. And we really don’t know how much playing time he wants? Could be zero? Could be 60 minutes per game? Tennessee averaged around 20 points per game this year. Maybe some Vol watcher can tell us how often they tried to run thru his hole or the hole he ‘pulled’ to get to? Having USC on the list is odd, that could mean a lot of none football things. Huge city, warmer weather, a lot of distractions, PAC 12 is most likely to be the first conference to cancel football altogether in 2021, they only played 6 games this year. What’s his major study transcript in? Does anybody trust Oklahoma not to pay players? Fisher at aTm, they used to be a SWC member, rolling the eyes? At USC, will boosters want a signed photo of him in their store window and how much would that pay him. Does anybody else see how the California legislature tried it’s best to kill amateur football and make colleges become NFL minor league teams. I’m sure not watching that product. And what happened to that NCAA rule idea where the whole association was talking about following Californi?, I hope not.
Where did the thought of Oklahoma paying players come from? Of course, I hear this claim about Bama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Ohio State, Clemson and on and on and on.
Why would he not have Arkansas on his list. A guy known for OL work is right next door and where he could be a standout. Well, its all about flash and splash and that isnt Arkansas right now so I get that. You can be a standout in the weak Pac12.
All the kids saying “respect my decision “ just sound dumb. As for wanya I wish him limited success as in hope he does well unless he plays us. No hard feelings here. He wasn’t the first and likely won’t be the last to depart the in Knoxville. He’s a good player but only trey smith played up to his billing on theO line. I lean towards coaching or lack thereof as the reason but will see when he gets in another program. If I’m an auburn fan I’m very concerned about friend coaching the O line. Maybe it’s something in the water at UT now that makes coaches forget how to coach but I think he was just another bad choice.
He’s a big kid, NFL size, but hasn’t panned out like a 5* should. Whether it’s a lack of development (coaching/strength and conditioning) or lack of ability remains to be seen. Having watched him in every game he played for the Vols, he seemed to have an inordinate number of missed assignments and was susceptible to both the outside speed rush and anything other than a basic inside stunt. Here’s hoping that he corrects his issues and earns a shot at the league.
I wish him well no matter where he ends up, at another school or back here at UT.
The bleeding continues at Tennessee. When will it end ?
In this case, it doesn’t sound like bleeding. it sounds like a good thing for UT. Get rid of some of the bad culture.
So has his top 3 watched his film from this past season or are they watching his high school film ? He was constantly beaten on his assignments which resulted in sacks. You can blame that on coaching but at some point you either have it or you don’t ? Just feel like there’s more to this story ?
Word I heard yesterday on an A&M board is he has enrolled at A&M. Guess we’ll know pretty quickly if that’s true. Classes start Tuesday. Hoping he has talent that can be developed by the right coach. Hard to call a kid out on leaving Tennessee. The coach will likely be gone in another year and it seems like things may get worse before they get better.
If he is coming to A&M, hopefully Jimbo and Henson will talk right senses into him.
Be careful what you ask for, I hear Wanya likes crablegs…
