Tennessee defensive tackle Trevarris Saulsberry has been ruled out for Tennessee’s game at South Carolina Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium. Coach Butch Jones confirmed the junior’s absence during his weekly Monday press conference at Neyland Stadium.

“[Saulsberry] will be out this week,” Jones said. We’ll continue to progress him and see where he’ll be at but right now he won’t be available for South Carolina.”

The 6-foot-4, 296-pound redshirt junior missed the remainder of Saturday’s 34-20 loss to No. 4 Alabama after suffering what appeared to be a knee injury– which would be his third major knee injury (in addition to a shoulder injury) in the past 14 months.

Saulsberry entered Tennessee with high expectations, but has struggled to stay healthy the past two seasons. He appeared in the Vols’ past five games after missing the first three of the season.

Saulsberry has five tackles (three solo, two assisted) in 2014 and is averaging one per game. He has 15 career tackles, 1.5 for loss and an assisted sack in 13 career appearances.
