We learned two things about the Tennessee Volunteers on Sunday, neither of them football-related: The team can sing fairly well, and the players can eat a lot of food.

Preparing for the Outback Bowl against Northwestern, members of Team 119 took a break to create their own rendition of “Lean On Me.” It’s not Grammy Award-worthy, but it’s not bad:

Perhaps the team was still excited about all the food it consumed Saturday night. Courtesy of Outback Steakhouse, the Vols and Wildcats combined to eat more than 5,000 pounds of food, according to outbackbowl.com.

The total figures:

  • 750 pounds of sirloin steak
  • 750 pounds of chicken
  • 900 pounds of ribs
  • 625 pounds of Steakhouse Mac & Cheese
  • 1,600 coconut shrimp
  • 160 bloomin’ onions
  • 700 lbs of house salad
  • 1,600 honey wheat dinner rolls
  • 1,200 pounds of cheesecake
  • 60 gallons of barbecue sauce
  • Dozens of cases of soda and water

Something tells us that the Vols will still be hungry when it comes time to face the Wildcats on the field.
