When Admiral Schofield came to Tennessee, the Vols finished 15-19 and 16-16 in his first two seasons, missing the NCAA Tournament both times.

Last year, Schofield and teammate Grant Williams led a massive turnaround, claiming a share of the SEC regular-season title and making it to the March Madness festivities.

Now, he’s playing in his final home game of his Vol career, and he was understandably emotional ahead of the contest against Mississippi State. As you can see below, Schofield sheds some tears before tipoff:

Perhaps the most telling sign of Schofield’s impact on this team is how his teammates react. You can see Williams fighting back tears, too.

Of course, there is plenty of basketball left in Schofield’s college career, as the Vols close the regular season at Auburn on Saturday, then play in the SEC and NCAA tournaments. We’ll see if he can cut down some nets before leaving Knoxville for the NBA.
