WATCH: Clutch hitting, huge double play help Tennessee survive elimination game vs. Liberty
The Tennessee Volunteers held a 5-4 lead heading into the ninth inning of an elimination game at the Chapel Hill regional on Sunday afternoon.
However, the ninth inning didn’t go their way, as the Liberty Flames scored a run to tie it at 5-5 with no one out. Then, Liberty loaded the bases with one out, but the Vols managed to escape.
The big play in the bottom of the ninth was a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning, which you can see below:

Then, in the top of the 10th inning, the Vols plated a run on this hit from freshman Jake Rucker to take a 6-5 lead:

The Vols held on in the bottom of the 10th to avoid elimination. Now, they must beat host North Carolina twice in a row to keep their season alive.
