The final full-time hire of Jeremy Pruitt’s first staff at Tennessee raised some eyebrows when it was initially made. While no one could argue that Chris Weinke was qualified to be an assistant on a college staff, the former quarterback made for an interesting hire as running backs coach.

Taking a step back, however, Weinke’s resume is pretty gaudy compared to most position coaches around the nation. From winning the Heisman Trophy as a player to serving as a head coach at IMG Academy, Weinke has served in some capacity at every level of football necessary to succeed in Knoxville.

Thursday morning, Tennessee released the latest in its “Field Level” video series and this edition features the team’s new running back coach. The video introduces Weinke to Vol fans who may be unfamiliar with his coaching style.

What does Weinke plan to bring to the team’s running back room? Weinke explains he’ll “set the expectation level high, demand that the players do it the right way, and do it with an attitude.”
