WATCH: Tennessee provides Volunteer fans chance to get to know DC Kevin Sherrer
There is an entirely new coaching of Rocky Top this spring consisting of a few coaches Tennessee fans may not be familiar with at this point. Taking that into consideration, credit the Volunteers for giving fans insight into the new faces of the coaching staff.
Tennessee has already posted a video with offensive coordinator Tyson Helton explaining his offense and what he envisions doing on Rocky Top, now the Vols have issued a video on defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer.
According to the team’s new defensive coordinator, “Tennessee fans are going to love our defense.”
Sherrer last coached for Georgia as a linebackers coach and helped to coach up arguably the best group of linebackers in the nation last season. He also had the reputation as one of the best recruiters on Kirby Smart’s staff and based on those that have been to Knoxville this spring, Sherrer’s work has already paid off.
Marcus Spears of the SEC Network had this to say following his recent trip to Knoxville: “They have dudes. I met two linebackers today, Paul, that look like seven-year pros in the NFL”
He also broke down what he wants to see from his unit moving forward under Jeremy Pruitt.
“We’re looking for big, fast, physical football players that are going to have the ability to come in and do things that can change the game and enhance the program,” Sherrer says in the video below.
