Arch Manning does not currently have a NIL deal.

According to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, that’s a family policy for the freshman Longhorn quarterback. Per Orangebloods Anwar Richardson, the Mannings have stated that Arch will not sign a NIL deal until he becomes a starter at the college football level.

If that’s indeed the case, Manning might not be signing a NIL deal anytime soon. Following the Longhorns’ spring game, Sarkisian made it clear that Quinn Ewers will be the team’s starting quarterback this season.

“I think it’s pretty clear to say that Quinn’s our starting quarterback,” Sarkisian said. “And we feel very good about that.”

Ewers completed 16 of his 23 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown in the Texas spring game, leading his team to a 21-10 victory. Manning, on the other sideline, completed 5 of his 13 passes for 30 yards and generally looked how one would expect a freshman going through their first spring camp to look.

In 10 starts last season for Texas, Ewers showed promise. He threw 4 touchdowns in a 49-0 drubbing of Oklahoma.

Texas is bringing its 5-star freshman quarterback along slowly, but not uncharacteristically so. Josh Rosen at UCLA in 2015 was the last No. 1 overall quarterback recruit to start a Week 1 game as a true freshman.
