Arch Manning poised 'to go berserk' in first career start, says Pat McAfee
Arch Manning is getting the call as the former 5-star prospect with ties to college football and NFL royalty is officially starting for Texas this Saturday.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian announced the decision on Thursday after Heisman Trophy contender and starting quarterback Quinn Ewers deals with an injury. While Ewers has been among the top performers in the country to start the season, many expect Manning to light things up against Louisiana Monroe.
ESPN’s Pat McAfee is in that group, and he reacted to Thursday’s announcement as not that surprising considering the circumstances.
“I think this was expected, I believe this is not really that big of a surprise, but boy you put it out there and say Sark confirms that Arch Manning is the starter this weekend,” said McAfee.
As to what to expect, McAfee said it has been unexpected for Manning to be content waiting for his turn as the starter in Austin. Regardless of how long this current stint as the starter lasts, McAfee expects the QB to “go berserk” in leading the Longhorn offense.
“Unexpected that somebody of Arch Manning’s caliber has chosen to be okay with sitting behind Quinn Ewers who is the Heisman favorite… Arch Manning’s cool sitting there, now he’s getting his opportunity, he’s about to go berserk,” said McAfee. “I think that’s what we all know. He’s seemingly remained a normal human… college football world is going to be loud about this entire thing.”

Predicting Manning to light things up is not incredibly surprising after his Week 3 performance. He was 9-for-12 passing for 223 yards and 4 touchdowns to go with a 67-yard touchdown run after replacing Ewers vs. UTSA. Now, Manning’s chance as the starter is here.

That is all we will be hearing until Ewers heals. Arch Manning goes crazy on a terrible team. Geeze, Texas should win this game with a RB playing QB.
Says Who ? Please !
