College GameDay celebrity guest picker revealed for Week 8 show at Texas
College GameDay’s celebrity guest picker for Week 8’s show from Austin has been revealed ahead of an official announcement.
Kirk Herbstreit let the cat out of the bag while appearing on The Pat McAfee Show. Herbstreit announced that Scottie Scheffler will be making picks on Saturday.
There’s been some GREAT guest pickers on College GameDay this season..

Scheffler, 28, is a Texas alum from Dallas. He is currently No. 1 on the Official World Golf Rankings, continuing his streak of 109 weeks in the top spot.
Scheffler has 13 PGA Tour wins to his name, as well 3 European Tour and 2 Korn Ferry Tour wins. He has won 2 Majors: the 2022 and ’24 Masters.
In 2018, Scheffler graduated from Texas and turned professional. He won the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019 and was the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year for 2019-20. He has been the PGA Tour’s money list winner for 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2024. He was named PGA Tour Player of the Year for 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Scheffler will join Rece Davis and company at the GameDay desk to pick the biggest games of a loaded Week 8 slate, highlighted by No. 1 Texas vs. No. 5 Georgia. Analysts Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit join Davis throughout the show and share predictions in the picks segment. Insider Pete Thamel, college football betting analyst ‘Stanford Steve’ Coughlin and reporters Jen Lada and Jess Sims will also be on hand in Austin.
Lee Corso continues to appear on GameDay in the 2024 season, but did not feel up to attending the last two shows at Cal and Oregon. Corso also missed the Week 0 show in Dublin, Ireland. Hopefully, Corso is up to making a headgear pick on Saturday!
They should just let this be Corso’s last season on the show and give him a big send-off.
Let Saban start making the headgear picks in 2025.
That’s not the worst idea. I love Corso but I think he’s worn out. I’ve enjoyed seeing the lighter side of Saban so he could probably pull off doing the headgear.
