The transfer portal window for college football has opened up as of Saturday, April 15. Already, a number of players have hit the portal, and that includes a handful of players out of Texas.

At the time of this writing, a quartet of Longhorn players has been a part of the early wave of entries Saturday morning. Included in that group is Brenen Thompson, a former 4-star prospect out of the 2022 recruiting class per Matt Zenitz with On3 Sports.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Thompson was the No. 20 WR in the country and 131st player nationally for the class of 2022. He appeared in 9 games and had 1 catch for 32 yards as a true freshman last season.

WR Jaden Alexis, LB Trevell Johnson and LB Derrick Brown were the other early entries to the portal per 247 Sports. None of the players from that group made an impact for the program during the 2022 season.

Alexis and Johnson both joined the Longhorns via the 2021 recruiting class. Alexis was a 4-star WR out of Pompano Beach, Florida while Johnson was a 3-star in-state LB out of Arlington.

Brown joined Texas via the 2022 recruiting class alongside Thompson. He was rated as a 4-star in-state Edge prospect out of Texarkana.
