Quinn Ewers has missed the past two games for Texas after an early-season injury against UTSA. The Longhorns have not missed a beat in wins against Louisiana Monroe and Mississippi State, but the rivalry showdown with Oklahoma is looming right around the corner.

While the Longhorns are idle with a Week 6 bye, the good news is that Ewers appears primed for a major return in Week 7. According to Anwar Richardson with Orange Bloods, multiple sources have revealed Ewers took the first-team practice reps for Texas on Tuesday.

Richardson also reported one source who said Ewers will certainly play against OU. Per that source, there is “no way” Ewers misses the rivalry: “He wants to win the SEC and a natty.”

Ewers was explosive to begin he season and jumped to the head of the Heisman Trophy discussion after a lights-out performance on the road vs. Michigan. However, he was injured in the 3rd game of the season and has not been back on the field since.

Meanwhile, Arch Manning has shined in his first career starts for the Longhorns. In 4 total appearances this season, Manning is completing 70.5% of his passes for 901 yards and 9 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions. Manning also has 3 rushing touchdowns and is averaging 11.6 yards per attempt.

All along, the expectation has been that Ewers would return to the lineup when healthy, and it looks like the Oklahoma game will be that moment. However, Manning has shown there may be room for a QB debate if Ewers returns to the lineup with any sort of struggles at all.
