Steve Sarkisian provided a brief injury update for star wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who exited Texas’ Big 12 Championship win over Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon. Worthy appeared to suffer an ankle injury and exited the locker room in crutches and a boot.

“He’s ok. X-rays are negative, so he’ll be ok,” Sarkisian told sideline reporter Molly McGrath following the 49-21 win.

Texas now sits at 12-1 on the season with a Big 12 Championship title under their belt. Should Florida State lose to Louisville Saturday night’s it’s hard to imagine the Longhorns will miss out on the 4-team field.

And that’s why this brief update is huge for the Longhorns. Should Texas be apart of the 4-team field, Worthy’s health is of the utmost importance.

Worthy has been one of the best receivers in the conference this season, totaling 67 receptions for 883 yards and 5 touchdowns. He had 6 receptions for 86 yards upon exiting against the Cowboys.

All eyes are on the remainder of Saturday’s games: Alabama vs. Georgia for the SEC Title, Michigan vs. Iowa for the Big Ten Championship and Louisville vs. Florida State for the ACC Championship.

Get your popcorn ready.
