Texas basketball adds pledge from 5-star SG in Class of 2024
Texas basketball added a commitment from Class of 2024 shooting guard and 5-star prospect Tre Johnson Wednesday afternoon.
Johnson stands at 6-6 and hails from Link Academy in Branson, Missouri. He is originally from Dallas, Texas.
Johnson chose his home-state Longhorns over the likes of Kentucky, Alabama, Baylor and Kansas. But given Johnson is one of the top players in the country in the Class of 2024, he could have gone anywhere he liked.
Tre Johnson, the No. 1 shooting guard in the senior class, has committed to #HookEm, @247Sports has learned.
The Texas Longhorns now have a top-five recruiting class in 2024.

Johnson is considered to be the No. 4 player in the country, as well as the No. 1 player out of Texas and the No. 1 overall shooting guard.
What makes Johnson dangerous is his truly insane ability to score above anything else. He can score at all 3 levels and has the size to dribble-drive, though according to 247Sports director of recruiting Adam Finklestein he is best in open space as a shot creator.
