The Texas basketball program reportedly lost a guard from the 2022 class to the transfer portal on Friday. Stadium’s Jeff Goodman reported the news from his social media account.

Rowan Brumbaugh committed to Texas as a 4-star point guard per the 247Sports Composite. He was the No. 16 PG and No. 2 Massachusetts recruit from his class. Brumbaugh is listed on Texas’ website as 6-foot-4, 190 pounds.

Brumbaugh chose to redshirt this past season because he was behind Marcus Carr and Tyrese Hunter. Brumbaugh was originally recruited to Texas by former coach Chris Beard.

Beard joined Texas in April of 2021 from Texas Tech.

The players in front of Brumbaugh played very well for Texas in 2022. Carr averaged 15.9 points, 3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Hunter averaged 10.3 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists each outing.

The Longhorns had to go through a coaching change after Beard was fired following some domestic violence allegations involving himself and his fiancée.

Former interim coach Rodney Terry will now be the full-time coach for the Longhorns in 2023. Terry guided Texas to a Big 12 Tournament title and an appearance in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. The Longhorns’ season ended when they lost to Miami.

Stay tuned for where Brumbaugh ends up next.
