Texas offensive tackle Cameron Williams is making the jump to the 2025 NFL Draft.
A junior, Williams appeared in 22 games but with just 1 start entering the 2024 season. But he opened the season with his 2nd career start vs. Colorado State and went on to serve as a major piece for Texas in the run to the national semifinals.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel shared the news of Williams’ decision. The offensive line prospect is viewed as a prototypical specimen to play tackle at the next level with some analysts projecting Williams as a first-round pick. ESPN’s Matt Miller currently ranks Williams as the No. 3 overall offensive tackle in this year’s draft.
“I feel like I’m ready, and it’s the best decision for me,” said Williams via ESPN. He described himself as “A leader and someone who just wants to work and be a dawg” when asked what he brings to the table.
For his career, Williams leaves Texas with 37 career appearances and 16 starts. With his contributions, Texas was a finalist for the 2024 Joe Moore Award as one of the top offensive lines in the country.
The Longhorns are losing some major contributors from the offensive side of the ball this offseason and will be interesting to see how Texas adjusts for 2025.
