Derek Mason’s program is starting to heat up on the recruiting trail as Vanderbilt has landed three commitments spanning the last week and its second pledge in as many days.

The latest high school recruit to commit to the Vanderbilt program comes from Valdosta, Ga., native Jacques Hunter. The Lowndes High School standout plays on the defensive line at the prep level.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Hunter is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 81 strongside defensive end prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Hunter picked Vanderbilt over scholarship offers from Ole Miss and South Carolina, among others.

Ohio native lineman A.J. Campbell and Georgia receiver James Ziglor III were the other two high school players that publicly announced their commitments to Vanderbilt this week.

With Hunter joining the current Vanderbilt recruiting class, the Commodores now hold pledges from 13 prospects in the 2021 recruiting class.
