One thing Vanderbilt proved it could do well during the 2015 season was play some defense under Coach Derek Mason.
So it should come as no surprise that some talented defensive back prospects have interest in playing for the coach that groomed Seahawks great Richard Sherman for the NFL back in his days at Stanford.
Mason landed a commitment from four-star cornerback Joejuan Williams on Saturday night, with the talented quarterback choosing to stay home in Nashville instead of exploring offers from some of the nation’s top programs.

Williams, who is set to enroll early in January, chose the Commodores over offers from schools such as LSU, Alabama, Ohio State and Tennessee, among many others, according to his 247Sports recruiting profile.
The Tennessee native, who stands at an impressive 6-foot-2 and 195-pounds, immediately becomes the prize prospect in a Vanderbilt recruiting class that has 14 commitments.
Joejuan Williams will bring great length & size to the CB position at VU, and should help that young unit become even stronger going forward
