With the Georgia Bulldogs preparing to leave for Little Rock, Ark. to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks, the question of Todd Gurley’s status for this weekend’s matchup still remained.

Finally, we have our answer.

Friday morning the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that UGA officials confirmed what was expected since UGA had yet to file a reinstatement request with the NCAA. Gurley will not travel to Arkansas with the football team.

According to the AJC, UGA’s athletic departments has declined to further comment on Gurley’s suspension.

This weekend will be the second game Gurley has missed since he was indefinitely suspended back on Oct. 9. In Gurley’s absence, true freshman running back Nick Chubb ran 38 times for 143 yards and one touchdown in Georgia’s 34-0 win over Missouri.

Gurley was a Heisman frontrunner prior to the suspension and is a near lock for a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Chubb will once again remain the team’s starter during Gurley’s suspension this weekend with sophomore Brendan Douglas as the backup.
