Alabama took a rare loss in the recruiting column on junior college signing day, coming up empty-handed on junior college recruits.

The Crimson Tide were only chasing a few junior college prospects, many of which seemed locks to go other places throughout the recruiting process. On their list were D.J. Jones (East Mississippi C.C.), who flipped from Florida State to Ole Miss, as well as Jovon Robinson, a five-star running back from Georgia Military College who has been committed to Auburn for several months.

The junior college recruiting process isn’t over yet for Alabama. They’re still targeting Jonathan Taylor, a three-star defensive tackle from Copiah-Lincoln C.C. in Mississippi. He was scheduled to visit Alabama last weekend.

Even without landing any junior college prospects, the Crimson Tide should have plenty of recent recruits and transfers ready to play in 2015, as they have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Many expected Jacob Coker, a transfer from Florida State last year, to grab the starting job this season. He’ll duke it out with five-star recruit Blake Barnett for the starting job next year following Blake Sims’ departure.

The Crimson Tide will also get to add running back Bo Scarborough, one of the top 2014 recruits. The former five-star recruit was cleared to enroll and took part in the Crimson Tide’s first bowl practices.
