In recent weeks, there were some rumors swirling around top 2017 OL Alex Leatherwood.

The 5-star prospect has been a long-time commitment to Alabama. With that said, the in-state Florida Gators had been making a major push for Leatherwood’s services.

In fact, one fan alleges that Leatherwood was in attendance for Florida’s bowl game versus Iowa — wearing blue and orange.

Ultimately, the rumors are all for naught. Leatherwood was reportedly seen at Alabama’s practice on Wednesday — sporting the No. 70 jersey.

The 6-foot-6, 327-pound behemoth is following in the footsteps of current starting QB Jalen Hurts. Like Leatherwood, Hurts enrolled in school during the week prior to Alabama’s title game versus Clemson.

Hurts even played the role of Clemson QB Deshaun Watson during scout team periods — only two days after coming to campus. While Leatherwood likely won’t function in that capacity, he’ll be able to gain some great experience against many of the Crimson Tide’s talented defenders.
