Early on Tuesday, it was reported that Alabama redshirt freshman corner Kendall Sheffield was likely to transfer from the program. He had missed two practices in a row, and head coach Nick Saban did not know what his status would be going forward.

Later in the day, Saban intimated that Sheffield will be welcome on the team…assuming he chooses to stay with the Crimson Tide.

“I don’t really know what his status is so there’s no need to ask me,” said Saban. “We’re happy to have him back. He’s a fine young man. He’s worked hard. He’s made a lot of improvements here. We enjoy having him be a part of the team. If that’s what he chooses, we’ll continue to work with him in a positive way to help him develop personally, academically, and athletically.”

A native of Texas, Sheffield was a former Under Armour All-American. He is projected to be an integral member of Alabama’s secondary rotation this year.
