Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema made an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show earlier this afternoon. Bielema discussed a wide range of topics concerning his team and the SEC. When Bielema discussed his stable of running backs, he highlighted the improvements they’ve been making throughout the season.

“They’re getting better by the day. I knew they were three very talented players,” Bielema said. “They’ve been a little bit banged up recently. J Will [Jonathan Williams] did a great job of playing through some pain last Saturday. Alex [Collins] has probably had the best two months in our program from a maturity standpoint which has carried over to the football field.”

However, the head coach saved perhaps his highest compliment for the sophomore Korliss Marshall.

“Korliss Marshall might be the explosive player in my coaching career that I’ve coached and nobody has really seen him yet,” Bielema said to Finebaum.

Marshall’s biggest assets definitely lie in his speed and shiftiness. He did not play in the Nicholls State game, but he was arguably Arkansas’ most impressive back against Auburn until he left the game with an arm injury. He returned in the second half, but Marshall failed to make much of an impact, along with any of the other backs.

Moving forward, Marshall will continue to be Bielema’s change of pace back, but the sophomore’s explosiveness could certainly lead to a greater role in the future.
