Auburn had two big visitors from the Florida panhandle on Saturday.

Five-star OT Alex Leatherwood, an Alabama commit from Pensacola, Fla., and four-star OL Nick Brahms, from Navarre, Fla., made the trip to the Plains together. Brahms received a scholarship offer, and shared a photo with Leatherwood, who already has an AU offer, as part of his announcement.

247Sports reporter Keith Niebuhr spoke with Brahms about the Auburn offer and his friendship with Leatherwood.

“It means a lot to me,” Brahms said. “I’ve been to Auburn before for a few games and stuff like that. My sister is going to Auburn to become a veterinarian so I think it’d be cool if I went to the same school as her. It would definitely make it easier on my family. I really enjoyed my visit today and I look forward to keeping in touch with the coaching staff there.”

Nobody is using the words “package deal,” but Brahms and Leatherwood have bonded as fellow recruits.

“Me and him usually travel together,” Brahms said. “We definitely enjoyed the visit. Coach (Herb) Hand is one of the best offensive line coaches in the country and it’d be an honor to play for him.”

Niebuhr notes that Auburn is looking to sign five offensive lineman in the 2017 class. The Tigers currently have five total commits, including five-star OT Calvin Ashley, the No. 3 offensive tackle of the ’17 class.

If AU could flip Leatherwood, that would mean two top-10 tackles in one class, as the Washington High product ranks No. 7. Brahms is another top-10 lineman, rated the No. 8 guard of the class.

For Brahms, Auburn seems like the perfect fit.

“I’ve got some close friends who live about 50 minutes away which is really nice,” Brahms said. “Auburn seems to be the total package as of right now.”
