Auburn WR D’haquille Williams has been no stranger to the weight room and training table this offseason.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 216 pounds during his junior season, Williams posted a photo of him on the scale 16 pounds heavier on Wednesday.

At what point is Williams too big? Dez Bryant, listed at 6-foot-2, weighs 220 pounds. Demaryius Thomas is listed at 6-foot-3, 229 pounds. Alshon Jeffery: 6-foot-3, 216 pounds. All three of those NFL standouts are near Williams in body type, but just a little lighter.

Mel Kiper Jr. already has projected Williams as the No. 1 receiver of the 2016 class heading into the season. Williams isn’t Sammie Coates fast, but his speed isn’t seen as an issue. However, he’s definitely hovering near the upper register before his performance may start to decline.

Or he can just put on an additional 15 pounds or so and become a 250-pound tight end. And there’s always the possibility that he’s a) holding a 10-pound dumbbell in the photo and b) he’s a chunky 232, since we can’t see him in the picture.

During the season, receivers can sometimes lose weight, as it’s difficult to train as hard and heavy in the weight room with such intense on-field goings-on. So, all jokes aside, 232 probably is a perfect weight for Williams during mid-February. Judging based on his caption, Williams is proud of the work he’s putting in this offseason and should enter spring practice with great conditioning.

“I think the burst out of his break, getting separation, consistency, all those things (are things Williams can improve on),” Kiper said in January, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.

“Duke Williams, coming out of the JUCO ranks, had a great year opposite (Sammie) Coates. He’ll be the guy, he’ll be the main entity. Obviously you’re in an offense where they’re going to run the ball, and obviously Nick Marshall’s moving on, but you’ve got the quarterback Johnson played well.”
