Kurt Roper
After Will Muschamp was fired from the University of Florida, Kurt Roper was hired as an offensive analyst with the Cleveland Browns. However, once Muschamp was hired at South Caroline, Roper was hired as the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Hired to replace Brent Pease as the Gators’ chief play caller following a miserable 4-8 campaign in 2013, Roper has spent the last six seasons on former Mississippi coach David Cutcliffe’s staff at Duke helping turn around a dormant football program in the ACC. Prior to his success in Durham, Roper mentored Eli Manning in Oxford as the Rebels’ quarterback coach, worked two seasons for Phillip Fulmer at Tennessee and enjoyed one season at Kentucky in between.
The former Rice standout has mentored three 3,000-yard passers during a career as an assistant coach that began during his first stop in Knoxville as a graduate assistant in 1996. In need of an offensive scheme change to save his job, head coach Will Muschamp convinced Roper to join him at Florida and gave him an open playbook.
