Florida picked up its third conference win on Saturday and moved into first place in the SEC East, defeating Missouri 40-14, but the victory came with a price. Senior LB Jarrad Davis left the game in the second half with an apparent injury to his left leg. He was helped off the field with assistance and did not put any weight on the leg.

On Sunday, Florida’s Twitter account announced that Davis has a sprained ankle and there is no timetable for his return.

Davis leads the team in tackles (48) through six games. Florida is on a bye week for Week 8 and will return to action against Georgia on Oct. 29.

If Davis misses the Georgia game, the Gators will turn to freshman David Reese. Defensive lineman Cece Jefferson said Reese reminds him of Davis.

“David Reese is a grown man. David Reese is Jarrad Davis part two,” Jefferson said. “Like I said earlier, he’s one of those younger guys. He’s always asking questions on what he has to do to improve his game. So I’m comfortable getting a call from him just as if Davis is back there. We’re not missing a beat with Reese.”
