After some speculation and discussion regarding the Florida vs. Michigan season opener in Arlington, Texas, the game officially has a date.

It will be played Saturday, September 2 at AT&T Stadium, the school announced Wednesday.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg announced earlier this year that there were preliminary discussions taking place to potentially move the kickoff game until Sunday the 3rd, which wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. Monday is Labor Day and would have given fans time to travel back home.

Although Florida has played Michigan four times, this year’s season opener will mark the first time the two have played during the regular season. The most recent game saw the Wolverines stomp Jim McElwain’s Gators 41-7 in the 2016 Citrus Bowl

Both Michigan and Florida have some momentum entering the off-season. The winner of this game could be a potential darkhorse College Football Playoff contender.
