Florida quarterback/wide receiver Treon Harris has been granted his release and will transfer according to a report by 247Sports.com Monday.

Harris started at quarterback in 15 games during his first two seasons at Florida. He threw for 1,676 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions on 119-of-235 passing, while also rushing for 238 yards on 96 attempts in 2015.

Jim McElwain recently confirmed that Harris had been moved to wide receiver, and that was obviously the best move for him and the offense. The Gators could have used his athletic ability on the perimeter this season. If Harris wants to play quarterback, transfer was the only option at this point.

Harris was a former four-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 9 athlete for the 2014 national signing class. He will have two years of remaining eligbility remaining after sitting out this upcoming fall should he transfer to another Division 1 program.
