The Matchup: Vanderbilt (1-4, 0-2 SEC) at Georgia (3-1, 1-1 SEC)
The Venue: Sanford Stadium
The Kick: 4 p.m. ET
TV: SEC Network

Series Record: Georgia 53-19-2

Last Meeting: James Franklin’s Vanderbilt team scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to post the 31-27 upset over then-No. 15 Georgia.

Coaches: Derek Mason (1-4 overall), Mark Richt (129-46 overall).

Last game (Georgia): Georgia squeaked out a close one against Tennessee with Todd Gurley shouldering the load for the Bulldogs with a career-high 208 yards.

Last game (Vanderbilt): Mason’s Commodores continue to struggle on the offensive side of the football. Kentucky handed Vanderbilt its fourth loss in a 17-7 effort on Saturday. Patton Robinette is out at quarterback, so freshman Wade Freeback is in for Vandy now.

Georgia wins if: It can run the ball successfully. The Bulldogs have the advantage over the Commodores in every area. Look for Todd Gurley and Nick Chubb to have a monster day.

Vanderbilt wins if: It can stop the run. Georgia has lost its balance on offense, and if somehow Mason’s defense can slow Gurley down, Vandy could find itself with a shot late.

What it means if Georgia wins: Georgia got a burst of new life with Mizzou’s win over South Carolina on Saturday night. All the Bulldogs have to do is win all of its conference games from here on out. A win over Vandy is a good first step.

What it means if Vanderbilt wins: It would be an early program-defining win for Mason and his staff in Nashville. All signs point to the Commodores not being very good this season, but if it can pull the upset on Saturday, it would set the tone for what Mason is looking to do there.
