While the running games will be the focus of Saturday’s potentially snowy showdown, LSU is going to need something, anything out of its passing game at some point this season. Facing an underrate run defense on Saturday, it could be Anthony Jennings’ time to once again shine.

Last year ago, Jennings entered LSU’s regular season finale against Arkansas with about 5 minutes left on the clock and his team trailing 27-21. In the first of several come-from-behind wins Jennings has authored in his short career, the then-freshman led a 99-yard game-winning drive in the final moments that ended with a 49-yard touchdown bomb to Travin Dural.

With the way Arkansas defends the run — the Razorbacks allow 136.8 yards per game, 36th in the country — LSU is going to have to fight for every inch on the ground. Arkansas limited two of the most potent rushing offense in the country, Alabama and Mississippi State, to a combined 2.9 yards per carry.

The Razorbacks will no doubt be gearing up to stop LSU’s rushing attack, especially if the weather gets ugly (and the forecast ain’t pretty), but it would surprise no one if Les Miles decided to go against the grain. As it happens, Arkansas is susceptible to long passes despite a talented defensive backfield. The Razorbacks have given up 15 completions of 30-plus yards, tying them for the second-highest total in the SEC.

While LSU’s passing offense is bad, it thrives on the big play, ranking fourth in the SEC in 30-plus yard passing plays despite the second-fewest pass attempts. The Jennings-to-Dural connection has been more or less non-existent of late after a flying start to the season, and a revival against the opponent it started against would be well-timed.
