In case you forgot, Les Miles almost lost his job back in late November.

Part of the fall out from that drama was the loss of his quarterback commitment for the 2016 recruiting class.

Four-star QB Feleipe Franks instead chose to attend Florida, where he has already signed his papers and enrolled early.

That leaves Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron on the prowl looking for a quarterback to add to this year’s recruiting class.

While conventional wisdom might say that they would look within the confines of the crop of high school talent eligible to sign on next month, a report from NOLA.com’s James Smith indicates that the Tigers coaching staff is exploring all avenues, including a transfer.

The name that Smith mentions that will grab your attention right away is former Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight.

Here is what Smith reports on the contact that LSU has had with Knight:

Former Oklahoma quarterback, said to be future Texas A&M Aggie, Trevor Knight, has been in contact with LSU, and the talks have gone fairly well. The Tigers positioned themselves to make a strong push to land the former Sooner starting quarterback, but they do not appear to be the leader for his services right now. Knight, who only has one year of eligibility remaining, has an obvious desire to start his final year.

With Brandon Harris still having two years of eligibility, that may prove to be a complication that Knight simply chooses to avoid.

If the Tigers don’t find a high-school player to their liking and Knight doesn’t come to Baton Rogue, Smith reports that the coaching staff is open to junior college and graduate student transfers as well.

While guys like former Texas A&M QB Kyle Allen and Florida’s Will Grier are “on the market”, the restrictions on the release from their schools would prohibit them from joining a team in the SEC.
